چکیده
<p style='text-indent:20px;'>This paper considers single-machine scheduling problems with variable processing times, in which the actual time of a job is function its additional resources, starting time, and position sequence. Four arising from two criteria (a cost total resource consumption cost) are investigated. Under linear convex functions, we provide unified approaches consequently prove that these four solvable polynomial time.</p>

A unified analysis for the single-machine scheduling problem with controllable and non-controllable variable job processing times
We present a unified analysis for single-machine scheduling problems in which the actual job processing times are controlled by either a linear or a convex resource allocation function and also vary concurrently depending on either the job’s position in the sequence and/or on the total processing time of the already processed jobs. We show that the problem is solvable in Oðn log nÞ time by usin...
متن کاملA Mathematical Model for a Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Fuzzy Processing Times
This paper presents a mathematical model for a flow shop scheduling problem consisting of m machine and n jobs with fuzzy processing times that can be estimated as independent stochastic or fuzzy numbers. In the traditional flow shop scheduling problem, the typical objective is to minimize the makespan). However,, two significant criteria for each schedule in stochastic models are: expectable m...
متن کاملDue-Window Assignment Scheduling with Variable Job Processing Times
We consider a common due-window assignment scheduling problem jobs with variable job processing times on a single machine, where the processing time of a job is a function of its position in a sequence (i.e., learning effect) or its starting time (i.e., deteriorating effect). The problem is to determine the optimal due-windows, and the processing sequence simultaneously to minimize a cost funct...
متن کاملVariants of Multi-resource Scheduling Problems with Equal Processing Times
We tackle the problem of non-preemptive scheduling of a set of tasks of duration p over m machines with given release and deadline times. We present a polynomial time algorithm as a generalization to this problem, when the number of machines fluctuates over time. Further, we consider different objective functions for this problem. We show that if an arbitrary function cost ci(t) is associated t...
متن کاملJob Shop Scheduling Problems with Controllable Processing Times
In this paper we study the job shop scheduling problem under the assumption that the jobs have controllable processing times. The fact that the jobs have controllable processing times means that it is possible to reduce the processing time of the jobs by paying a certain cost. We consider two models of controllable processing times: continuous and discrete. For both models we present polynomial...
